Accommodations
Santa Cruz is a beach town and tourist destination, and there is a high demand for hotel rooms. We strongly recommend making a reservation as soon as possible, just in case. The most convenient accommodations will be on the West Side of Santa Cruz, in proximity to the main campus.
We have reserved a limited block of rooms at the Mission Inn. This hotel is convenient to UCSC and to the restaurants, wineries, and breweries of the West Side. To reserve a single queen or a double queen at our group rate, call 831-425-5455 and tell them you are associated with the ‘AMP Conference.’ This cannot be done online.
AirBnB is also a very popular option for visitors to Santa Cruz.
Some favorite hotels on the West Side:
- Babbling Brook Inn - more like a B&B, tucked in amongst redwoods and overlooking ... a babbling brook.
- Dream Inn - currently the only union hotel in Santa Cruz. It is on the more expensive side, but it is located right by the beach and the boardwalk and provides beautiful ocean views.
- Sea & Sand Inn and Seaway Inn - are located on West Cliff Drive (very close to the Dream Inn), overlooking Monterey Bay. The views come at a price, but it is sometimes possible to snag a deal here.
The Mission Inn is about a 10-minute walk to the nearest bus stop, Bay & Mission St. The others are 2-5 minutes from bus stops on Laurel St (Babbling Brook) and Bay St (Sea & Sand, Seaway, and Dream).
The more adventurous, or road-trip inclined, might look for arrangements somewhat farther afield, e.g., the Pigeon Point Lighthouse Hostel (~30 miles north), the Davenport Roadhouse (~10 miles north), or local campgrounds, like in Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park.
