     occurred to me.

(4)  We understand {that [your friends believe {that [few people know

     {that [your pig ate the parakeet]}]}]}.

(5)  Harvey's claim {that [pigs can fly]} annoyed me.


1.  What are the [] things?

2.  What are the {} things?

3.  What is 'that'?

4.  Revise the grammar.

There may be more than one way to do this, so justify carefully
any choices you make.  Do you need to say anything about verb
subcategorization?
