Linguistics 114B: Syntax 4, Readings in Syntax: Generative Syntax, Early to Late

This course will explore readings in generative syntax, beginning with Syntactic Structures (1957) and leading up to aspects of the Minimalist Program. Some recurring themes will be the development of the Principles and Parameters theory and Ellipsis. Work for the course will consist of weekly readings and weekly written assignments.
