1.  What, if anything, accounts for the ungrammaticality of (1)?

(1)  *Our uncertainty about which goats the police arrested a man that
      informants claimed stole kept us from buying any goats at all.

    If nothing does, make something up.  Discuss thoroughly.


2.  A structure out of which nothing can grammatically move is called an island.

    Name all the islands you know.  Give examples.

    Find out whether subjects are islands.

    Ns and As can have CP complements.  Are those clauses islands?


3.  Are coordinate structures islands?
