1.  Show that Control is not involved.
    (cf. We persuaded Charley to eat the cake.)

2.  Tell exactly how to derive (1) and (2).
    Discuss alternative analyses.  (At least two analyses)

    If you can only think of one analysis, talk to your classmates.
    You've all got different ideas.

    Tell how all of your assumptions (under each analysis)
    relate to the theory of transformations being discussed in class.

3.  If you can, talk about why one analysis should be preferred
    over the other.

I'm giving you a week to do this because I want you to have time to
focus on the issues raised by such examples.
