(1)  Harvey's constantly skipping class annoyed me.

(2)  I was annoyed by Harvey's constantly skipping class.

(3)  Constantly skipping class is not a good idea.

(4)  Occasionally skipping class is also not a very good idea.

(5)  Harvey likes skipping class.

(6)  I don't approve of anybody's skipping class.

(7)  Harvey enjoyed kissing the gorilla.

(8)  The gorilla enjoyed being kissed by Harvey.

(9)  This not having secretaries is a bitch.


Analyze.  You don't have to give a derivation for every sentence, but
present an analysis that accounts for all of them.  Discuss anything
interesting.

Make sure your analysis includes explicit statements of any lexical
restrictions, form rules, and transformations, and that the structures
you propose are in accord with those rules.  And make everything
conform to X-bar theory.
